Language Education

During English Circle Time, we explore a wide range of topics. Every month we explore topics like space, dinosaurs and many topics in between. We have a full time native English speaker that works with the children all day. The children always gather around the knowledgeable staff and try to communicate in both languages.

We also value the Japanese language at our school. During Japanese Circle Time, through singing songs, KAMISHIBAI, reading books, to help convey the beauty of the Japanese language. In an environment where English and Japanese are used interchangeably, children use both languages on a daily basis. Chinese and Korean speaking staff also visit us regularly.

Japan Culture

Some examples are: seeing the flowing calligraphy lines of hiragana in Shodo, the movements and taste of tea in Sado, wearing traditional dress, and a variety of foods from around Japan. We will nurture an international sensibility while carefully incorporating Japanese culture. Manabiba is an international school in Japan. This gives us a wonderful opportunity to learn more about Japanese culture.

Field Trip

One of Manabiba’s most popular events are our monthly Field Trips. This is when the children can have first hand experiences with classmetes and their teachers. These trips outside the school are designed to add and reinforce the subjects we talk about during the month. Depending on the theme and the interests of the children we may visit Disneyland, take a ride on a Shinkansen, venture to a museum or venue to view different animals, and go as far as Tsukuba to visit JAXA to learn about the space. The staff is willing to go to great lengths to observe what peeks their interests and provide support for them to explore.

B

I had nothing but trust in the care of my children, so I could focus on my work until I saw the school.

C

I am amazed at the switch from Japanese to English when I meet people from other countries. The creativity of artwork is a unique attraction of Manabiba that cannot be cultivated anywhere else.
